Each October, organizations at national and local levels unite to educate the public about breast cancer, especially the life-saving benefits of breast cancer screenings. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) has spread beyond healthcare facilities and support groups; it is now being celebrated in companies, schools, and churches. The event began in 1985 as a week-long push for more communication about this disease. It involved brochures, news reports, and testimony to Congress on the importance of mammography. The cause gained momentum when former First Lady Betty Ford, a breast cancer survivor, and her daughter Susan Ford Bales addressed the issue on television.

Positive Promotions has products designed to get the word out. We also offer items for fundraising and gifts for thanking supporters. A portion of the proceeds from this catalog is donated to the ACS. Another way we help the cause is by gathering event ideas through our annual contest and sharing them. 2011 BCA Contest

Positive Promotions is proud to announce its sixth annual Breast Cancer Awareness Contest. We will award cash prizes for the best and most unique celebrations of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Grand Prize is $500, Second Prize is $300, and Third Prize is $100.

To enter, submit a typed description detailing specific activities held and how Positive Promotions products were used. Tell us how your event made an impact on your staff, patients or community. Include color photos and samples of additional materials. Entries will be judged on originality of the event, the extent of the educational aspect, the quality of the entry presentation, and the creative use of products. The deadline for entries is December 20, 2011.
